Who runs Sparkies

Magic Math Sparkies is a maths practice service run from Singapore. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Magic Math Sparkies.

What Sparkies is

Magic Math Sparkies is a maths practice app for primary school children in Singapore, from Primary 1 to Primary 6. It follows the Singapore MOE primary mathematics syllabus. It is not a school or a tuition centre, and it is not run, approved or endorsed by the Ministry of Education.

Sparkies helps your child practise. It is a learning aid, so we cannot promise any exam result or grade.

Your account and your child

A parent or legal guardian sets up the account and owns it. You must be an adult to do this. Your child uses Sparkies with your permission, and you agree to these terms for your child.

Keep your password and your parent PIN to yourself, and do not share them with your child. We treat anything done while you are signed in as done by you.

AI in Sparkies

Part of Sparkies uses AI. When your child types an answer that does not clearly match the expected one, AI reads it, marks it and asks a follow up question. A clearly correct answer is marked straight away, with no AI. Lessons and worksheets are prepared and checked in advance. They are not written by AI when your child opens them.

AI can make mistakes. Marks and feedback help your child learn. They are not a formal test of your child, and they do not replace a teacher or school tests. If a mark looks wrong to you, tell us at hello@magicsparkies.com and we will look at it.

What we send to our AI provider, and what we never send, is in our Privacy Policy.

Free days

TheFirst50. If you join with a TheFirst50 promo code, your family gets 30 days free. No card is needed, and no card is stored. Before the 30 days end, we email you to ask if you want to carry on, unless you have already chosen a plan. If you do not choose a plan, nothing is charged.

The free week. If you sign up without a code, your family gets a free week, which is our trial. No card is needed. Each email address can have the trial once.

Choosing a plan during your free days does not shorten them. With the free week, the first payment is taken on the day the trial ends. With TheFirst50, it is taken on the day your 30 days end. If your free days have already ended, your first payment is taken when you enter your card.

Paying

Plans are paid every month or every year, in Singapore dollars (SGD). Our plans page shows the price of each plan before you pay. Stripe, our payment company, shows the full amount again before you enter your card. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us.

Your plan renews by itself. A monthly plan renews every month, and an annual plan renews every year. Stripe charges your card at each renewal until you cancel. Any discount shown before you pay ends after its months, and then you pay the full price.

Founding price. Your founding price stays yours for as long as you stay with us. If you cancel, coming back later means the price on the board that day. A missed payment is not cancelling: fix the card and nothing changes.

Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel any time. In your parent dashboard, open Account, then Subscription, then press Cancel subscription. You can also email us at hello@magicsparkies.com.

• Cancelling stops the next payment. On a monthly plan you keep full access to the end of that month. On an annual plan you keep full access to the end of that year.
• If you cancel during your free days, nothing is charged, and your child keeps access until the free days end.
• Payments are not refunded, on either plan, monthly or annual. This is the same for your first payment and for every renewal, and also if you stop using Sparkies part way through.
• If we close your account because the fair use rules below were broken, we do not refund the time left on your plan.

Nothing here removes a right you have under Singapore law that cannot be taken away, including your rights under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act (CPFTA).

Your information

How we collect, use, keep and delete your information and your child's is in our Privacy Policy.

Fair use

Sparkies is for your own family's learning, not for business use. Please do not:

• share your password or your parent PIN
• copy or collect our content with bots or scripts
• try to get around the free days, the safety checks or the parent checks
• try to break or overload the service

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.

Rewards

The in-app currency your child earns by learning has no money value. It cannot be swapped for cash, sold or moved to another account.

Real-life treats are chosen and given by you. We do not sell them. If you buy a treat from a shop, that is between you and the shop, and we take no money from it.

Our responsibility

We work hard to keep Sparkies working and correct, but we cannot promise it will never be down or never have a mistake.

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for fraud, for death or injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that Singapore law does not let us limit.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, the version number at the foot of this page changes. If a change affects what you pay, or takes away something you have, we will email you before it applies to you.

Singapore law

These terms are under Singapore law. If something goes wrong, please write to us first, and we will try to sort it out with you. If we cannot, the courts of Singapore decide.
